The Indian Premier League (IPL) has imposed a complete ban on the use of smart glasses during matches.
According to Indian media reports, the IPL's Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) has taken this decision while further tightening security. Under the new guidelines, players and support staff will have to hand over smart glasses to security officials as soon as they enter the stadium.
These modern glasses have facilities like live streaming, sending messages, making calls and recording videos, due to which the risk of unauthorized contacts and exchange of information during the match increases.
The ACSU has clarified that mobile phones and other electronic devices, including smart glasses, will be kept safe in lockers. If this device is found in the player and match officials' area, it will be considered a violation of the rules and fines and disciplinary action can be taken if found guilty.
Recently, Rajasthan Royals team manager Romi Bhinder was fined Rs 100,000 for using a mobile phone in the dugout, while captain Riyan Parag was fined 25% of his match fee and given a demerit point for using an e-cigarette in the dressing room.
