Neymar suffers another injury, casting doubt on World Cup preparations

Brazil star Neymar could miss the friendly matches to prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after picking up another injury.

Reports suggest it could take two to three weeks for him to fully recover, raising questions about his participation in the opening matches of the World Cup.

The 34-year-old Neymar suffered the injury on May 17 during Santos' 3-0 defeat to Coritiba.

The next day, Brazil's new coach Carlo Ancelotti included him in the World Cup squad, to much fanfare.

Carlo Ancelotti said Neymar's fitness was being monitored and his physical condition had improved in the past few months. He said Neymar is a very important player for the team and his role in the World Cup will be key.

After team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar confirmed the injury, midfielder Casemiro also prayed for Neymar's speedy recovery and said that the fitness of every player is very important for the team's success.

It should be noted that Brazil is in Group C and will play matches against Morocco on June 13, Haiti on June 19 and Scotland on June 24.
