New Oil and Gas Reserves Discovered in Kohat's Nishpa block

There is positive news for the country’s energy sector, where the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited has confirmed a new oil and gas discovery in the Nishpa block located in the Kohat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the company, the well named Bragzai X-1 in the Nishpa block is producing about 225 barrels of crude oil and 1 million cubic feet of gas per day, which is being described as a significant increase in local production.

The well was started on December 30, 2024 and was taken to a depth of 5,170 meters. During drilling, tests were conducted in various ground layers, in which signs of the presence of hydrocarbons were already found, after which production was confirmed.

OGDCL says that this new discovery will not only help meet the country’s growing energy needs but will also increase the national hydrocarbon reserves, which is being considered a significant step towards the development of local resources.
