FIFA announces further increase in prize money for 2026 World Cup

FIFA has announced further increases in prize money and fees for all teams participating in the 2026 World Cup. FIFA is currently consulting with member states to further improve the financial package. Several countries had expressed concern over the increasing administrative and tax costs of the tournament in the United States, after which FIFA agreed to take this step.

FIFA has already announced a record total prize money of $655 million to $727 million for the 2026 World Cup, with each team guaranteed to receive at least $10.5 million. The new proposed increase is aimed at ensuring that no team suffers financial losses due to participating in the World Cup. The FIFA Council will give final approval in this regard at its next meeting, after which new details will be revealed.

It should be noted that the 2026 World Cup will be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico and for the first time in history, 48 teams will participate in this mega event, which will increase both the size and financial scope of the tournament much more than before.
