Disney Plus Introduces New Feature “Verts”

Streaming service Disney+ has introduced a new feature to its app called “Verts” The feature aims to help users discover movies and TV shows through short video clips.
Vertz will be in a vertical video format that users can swipe up and down to watch. Its style is very similar to TikTok and Instagram’s Reels. The feature can be opened via the Vertz icon in the navigation bar of the Disney+ mobile app.
After opening the feature, users will be able to scroll vertically through short scenes and clips from movies and shows. If they are interested in a clip, users can immediately add that movie or show to their watchlist or start watching it immediately.
According to the company, in early tests, the feature has seen an increase in user engagement on the platform. Disney says this improvement is possible due to an advanced algorithm that creates a personalized video feed for each user.
Disney has hinted that Virtus is actually the first phase of a larger vertical video project that could include content from creators connected to fan communities, new storytelling formats, and more personalized experiences in the future.
