Following the ongoing controversy surrounding the Indian film ‘Pedii’, the filmmakers have taken a major step by deleting some scenes of actress Janhvi Kapoor from the film.
The film’s director Buchi Babu Sana has confirmed that the controversial shots have been removed after objections were raised by viewers and circles working for women’s rights.
He said that Janhvi Kapoor’s character Uchiyama in the film was misunderstood by many people. Many viewers considered the story of this character unnecessary, although her intention was to reflect a certain background and social environment through the character.
After the film’s release, Janhvi Kapoor’s introductory scenes and a romantic scene faced severe criticism on social media.
After the growing backlash, the film’s team had assured that the parts considered inappropriate would be removed. Now the director has admitted that some shots could not convey the message they intended to convey to the audience.
Buchi Babu Sana explained that he wanted to show the film's protagonist, Peddi, as a person who grew up in a remote area and a specific environment, which is why his behavioral flaws were highlighted initially so that the character's positive transformation could be shown later.
Despite the controversy, the film 'Peddi' is doing well at the box office.
