Blessing Mozarabani banned, agent reacts strongly, PCB stands by its stance

The two-year ban imposed on Zimbabwean fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani by the Pakistan Super League has taken a new turn, with the player’s agent calling the decision unfair.

According to cricket website Cricinfo, Mozarabani’s agent Rob Humphries said in a statement on social media platform X that no formal agreement had been reached between the PSL and the player, so the question of breach of contract did not arise.

According to the agent, on February 13, Islamabad United contacted Mozarabani and offered him a deal for the 2026 season, which was conditional on obtaining an NOC from Zimbabwe Cricket. However, a formal contract is required for the NOC, which was not provided to the player.

The statement further said that despite the passage of two weeks, no written agreement had been sent, in the meantime, a better financial offer came from Kolkata Knight Riders, after which Mozarabani joined the Indian Premier League.

The agent maintains that a contract that does not exist cannot be violated, and has also demanded that the PSL withdraw the ban.

On the other hand, the Pakistan Cricket Board has defended its decision, saying that even an email or written communication after agreeing on the necessary terms is considered a binding contract, and the player nevertheless preferred the IPL.

It should be noted that Blessing Muzarabani was initially signed by Islamabad United for about $40,000, but later an offer of about $160,000 from the IPL changed the situation.

The PCB has decided to maintain the ban, refusing to review the matter, under which Mozarabani will not be able to participate in the PSL until 2029.
