The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has introduced a digital platform, 'SME Connect,' to simplify the loan acquisition process for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). Through this system, business entities will be able to submit loan applications to banks and Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) via a single online platform.
Facilitating the Entire Process: From Loan Application to Decision
According to a statement issued by the State Bank, SME Connect will serve as a centralized digital platform designed to streamline the loan application process and enhance transparency in SME financing.
Applicants will also be able to track the progress of their applications through this platform. In the event that an application is rejected, the respective business entity will be informed of the reasons behind the decision.

Assisting the State Bank in Monitoring Loan Applications
The new system includes a live dashboard, enabling the State Bank to monitor loan applications and the subsequent processing status.
The dashboard will provide data on applications received, those currently under process, approved applications, disbursed loans, and rejected requests. This data can be viewed at the level of individual banks and DFIs, as well as for the financial sector as a whole.
This will facilitate the tracking of the status of loan applications and allow for the evaluation of the performance of financial institutions.
New Procedure for Loan Applications Effective from November 1
According to an announcement by the State Bank, effective November 1, 2026, all applications for SME loans will be accepted exclusively through 'SME Connect'.
After this date, business owners seeking loans—whether by visiting branches of banks and Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) or by accessing their websites—will be directed to use 'SME Connect'.
The objective of this initiative is to establish a unified digital system for loan applications and to make the financing process for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) more organized and transparent.
