FBR increases prices of 62 mobile phones, customs valuation increases by 175 percent

The Federal Board of Revenue has issued a new rolling number 2070, significantly increasing the customs valuation of imported mobile phones, making the import of 62 popular mobile phones including iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel and OnePlus more expensive than before. This rolling has come into effect immediately, however, in case of objection, a review petition can be filed within 30 days.
New prices of iPhones
The customs value of Apple’s iPhones has been significantly increased. The value of iPhone 15 Pro Max has been increased from $460 to $505, iPhone 15 Pro from $390 to $472, iPhone 15 Plus from $320 to $390 and iPhone 15 from $310 to $378. In the older series, the value of the iPhone 14 Pro Max has increased from $360 to $413, the iPhone 13 Pro Max from $295 to $374, the iPhone 12 Pro Max from $215 to $274, and the iPhone 11 Pro Max from $145 to $211. Among the older models, the value of the iPhone 8 Plus has increased from $47 to $78, and the iPhone SE 2 from $25 to $52.
New prices of Samsung Galaxy
Samsung phones have also been significantly increased. The value of the Galaxy S23 Ultra has increased from $255 to $305, the Galaxy S23 Plus from $160 to $260, and the Galaxy S23 from $140 to $250. In the older series, the value of the Galaxy S22 Ultra has been increased from $160 to $260, the Galaxy S21 Plus from $69 to $150, and the Galaxy S20 Plus from $46 to $94. In the Note series, the value of the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra has been increased from $115 to $145, and the Galaxy Note 9 from $25 to $50.
New prices of Google Pixel
The value of the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL has been increased from $260 to $348, the Pixel 9 Pro from $195 to $290, and the Pixel 9 from $150 to $215. In the older models, the value of the Pixel 7 Pro has been increased from $119 to $145, the Pixel 6 Pro from $55 to $110, and the Pixel 6 from $32 to $94, which is an almost three-fold increase.
OnePlus new prices
The value of OnePlus 12 has been increased from $184 to $211, OnePlus 12R from $105 to $176, OnePlus 11 from $92 to $121 and OnePlus 10 Pro from $65 to $113.
Important terms and conditions
This new valuation will be applicable only to used and old mobile phones and will not matter the condition or grade of the phone. The phone must be activated at least 6 months before import and the importer will have to provide full details of the activation, which will be verified by customs officers. If the invoice value of a phone is more than the prescribed customs value, the duty will be levied on the higher value. The difference between air and sea freight will also be included in the value for shipments arriving by air and all customs collectors have been instructed to strictly implement this rolling.
