England cricket team likely to get first foreign selector

An interesting development has come to light in England cricket. Former Australian Test cricketer Marcus North is reported to have been appointed as England's new national selector. If the appointment is finalised, Marcus North will be the first foreign selector in the history of England cricket.

Marcus North, 46, has played 24 Test matches for Australia, including the 2009 and 2010-11 Ashes series. He is currently the Director of Cricket at County Club Durham. In the final interviews, he beat former England fast bowlers Steven Finn and Darren Gough and is close to replacing former selector Luke Wright.

Marcus North's appointment does not seem to be a coincidence as he has a close relationship with England Test captain Ben Stokes. The two worked together at Northern Superchargers, where North appointed Harry Brook as captain and Andrew Flintoff as head coach.

Reports suggest that he will be given more authority than previous selectors and improving his links with English domestic cricket will be among his priorities. He may also be included in the team selection for the upcoming Test series against New Zealand.
