BPL corruption scandal in Bangladesh, four people including a cricketer charged

A major corruption case has emerged in Bangladesh cricket, with the Bangladesh Cricket Board's Integrity Unit charging four people, including a cricketer, with violations of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code.
The most serious action was taken against Samin ur Rahman of Chittagong Royals, who has been banned for life for his involvement in gambling-related activities. He was part of the team that participated in the BPL 2025-26.
The remaining three individuals, namely cricketer Amit Majumdar, team managers Lublur Rahman and Rizwan Kabir Siddiqui, as well as Noakhali Express co-owner Towhid ul Haq, are facing the following charges:
- Involvement in suspicious betting-related activities
- Attempts to corrupt practices
- Failure to comply with notices issued under ICC Anti-Corruption Code Article 4.3
- Hiding and deleting relevant messages and contacts
- Refusing to cooperate with the Integrity Officer
The four have currently been provisionally banned and will have to formally respond to these charges within 14 days.
