Apple has introduced a new financing facility for its customers, under which various Apple devices, including the iPhone, can now be acquired on easy monthly installments. For this purpose, the company has launched the Apple Upgrade Plan in place of the previous iPhone Upgrade Program and iPhone Payment Plan.
According to Apple, this new scheme has been launched in collaboration with financial services company Klarna. Users will be able to benefit from this program through Apple’s official website, Apple Store app or the company’s retail stores. After submitting the application, Klarna will conduct a soft credit check to check the user’s eligibility, which will not affect the credit score.
The company says that most of the new iPhone, Mac, iPad and Apple Watch models will be available on lease under this program, however, a few products are not part of this facility. These include the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, Apple Watch SE, MacBook New, A16 base model iPad and Studio Display.
A significant change in the new upgrade plan is that AppleCare+ will not be included in the monthly installments as before. If users want to get this additional protection, they will have to purchase it separately. However, users who pay their installments through Apple Card will also be given 3 percent cashback on a daily basis.
Apple has set different lease periods and installments for different devices. A 12 or 24-month period has been set for the iPhone, with a monthly installment starting at $ 17.99.
The Apple Watch will be available for $ 11.99 per month under a 12 or 24-month plan.
Similarly, Mac computers will be available for $ 24.99 per month with a 24 or 36-month term, while a 24 or 36-month plan will also be available for the iPad, with an initial monthly installment of $ 11.99. The company says the new scheme aims to make it easier for customers to access the latest Apple devices.
At the end of the lease period, customers will have three options: they can return their current device and start a new lease while getting a new model, pay the remaining amount and buy the device outright, or end the plan by returning the device.
