Under the OAK Tree

Today I am telling you about the romance story that ruined me. Under the oak tree is the web novel written by Sooji Kim. The FL is the daughter of the duke with high status. But she has a severe stutter and is super insecure. If that sounds sad to you, there's more: her family history is messed up. The FL’s dad is trash. He constantly abuses her verbally and physically reminding her she is worthless. One day the kind orders his subject to depart on a dragon hunt expedition (basically a suicide mission). But of course, the FL’s father doesn't want to go. So he marries the FL off to law_ class knight to make him go on the expedition instead. The father wants the knight to die in his place.

As you may have guessed, this knight is the ML. The ML is hot af. I mean, he is a knight in shining armor. he is also ripped. So you are in for a real treat when the ML and FL. You know what I mean. Anyways, the day after they marry, the ML is forced to depart on the dragon expedition. But three years later, the ML returns a hero. Now that the ML has become a hero, the king wants to take the ML as his son in _ law. At this point, no one could blame the ML if he wanted to divorce the FL and marry the princess. The FL's father has pissed the possibility of a divorce (which would dishonor the family name) and threatens her to prevent the divorce at all costs. Right then, the ML walks in and the FL is terrified by the enormous physique and menacing aura of the ML. But the ML says something unexpected. Instead of demanding a divorce, he came to bring the FL to his territory! He says we lawfully wed three years ago. It's only right for husband and wife to live together. Not even your father has the right to interfere. The FL and ML eventually arrive at his castle.

As time passes, the two slowly grow closer. The chemistry between the shy, insecure FL and the bold, confident ML is fun to observe. For instance, the ML calls her out for passively agreeing to everything he says. “Is that a habit? pardon? you always say yes to everything I ask”. He also sucks at expressing his emotions. He brings flowers for FL and loots at what he says LOL. He says " you can through them away if you don't like them” But he has his sweet moments. This is what he tells the FL after he returns from a few weeks at war." I have never stopped longing for you. Damn it, the last few weeks felt like years”. The intricate depiction of the emotions of the characters brings them to life and the intensifying relationship as they slowly open up to each other is to die for. Plus, the FL goes through some serious character development! As the FL begins a new life in the ML's castle, she starts to learn magic. Turns out, she is a genius! Well .... not exactly, but she does have an aptitude for it. So she learns healing magic and even attends to the ML's knights when they are injured. At this point the FL begins to gain confidence and starts changing, leading to some cute bickering between the characters." Is that a habit? What? You always say you will give me anything I ask for".

However, the peace is disrupted as a war with magical creatures breaks out. The ML, as per the king's orders, has to go to battle. But of course, the FL is anxious her husband might get injured...or worse, he might not even make it back alive. So now that she can heal people, the FL decides to go to battle behind the ML's back, disguised as a priest. With that said, the ML never thought in his wildest dreams that the FL would follow him to battle." I won't let any kind of danger come near you”. If the ML ever found out, he would flip shit. It was a risky situation. But of course, they cannot meet. The FL had done a pretty good job at staying discreet. But one day when she goes to the nearby spring to bathe, she finds the ML already there. The ML begins to wonder who this suspicious hooded woman is and commands her to reveal herself. “ Show your face”. The FL tries her best to get away, saying she can't disobey the doctrines of the priesthood. The ML eventually decides to let her go but right when she turns to leave...The ML yanks the edge of the FL's robe, forcing her to face him. The FL's nervously meets the ML's eyes and at that moment...I am going to stop here, but just to let you know, this story is from a famous web novel in Korea... and it is finally out as a webcomic! It is a tortured lover fiction that directed escape completely improved, I liked the symmetry among some cloudy apprehension of each design including the delightful chemistry among the personalities.
