China has achieved a major feat in the field of supercomputing, taking the crown of the world's most powerful supercomputer from the United States.
The new Chinese supercomputer Line Shine has managed to secure the first position in the global ranking Top 500, after which the long reign of the United States in this field ended.
This achievement is considered even more extraordinary because China has developed this machine entirely with the help of local technology. Despite US sanctions, Chinese engineers have proven that the country is rapidly moving towards self-sufficiency in modern technology by using chips, software and networking systems that they have developed.
China last managed to win the title of the world's most powerful supercomputer in 2017. However, the machines used at that time also included some foreign technology. This time the situation is different and it is being called a major symbol of China's technological independence.
According to reports, the supercomputer uses chips manufactured by Huawei and local networking equipment.
Previously, the US El Capitan was considered the world's most powerful supercomputer and held the top spot for about 18 months. However, according to the new ranking, the Chinese machine has reached a speed of 2.2 exaflops, while the US supercomputer is capable of 1.8 exaflops.
This development not only shows China's lead in the supercomputing race but is also being considered a major milestone in the ongoing technology competition between the US and China.
