Ashraf Hakimi to face court in sexual assault case

Morocco's football team captain Achraf Hakimi will face court in a case of alleged sexual assault of a woman.

27-year-old Achraf Hakimi (defender of French club Paris Saint-Germain) is accused of allegedly sexually assaulting a woman he met on the internet. If convicted, he could face up to 15 years in prison.

After the formal hearing of the case was confirmed, Achraf Hakimi said that he had been waiting for this case since day one. Now he is looking forward to it because he will finally have the opportunity to present his case.

The Moroccan captain is accused of allegedly raping a 26-year-old woman at his residence in February 2023 while his wife and children were on vacation.

Achraf Hakimi strongly denies all these allegations and maintains that the woman is trying to blackmail him.

The footballer is currently on bail. He was indicted in February 2023.
According to reports, the formal hearing of the case will take place after Morocco's World Cup trip ends.

However, Achraf Hakimi will be part of Morocco's World Cup match against Scotland tonight.
