WhatsApp is also testing the Green Dot feature on iPhone

WhatsApp, the messaging app owned by technology company Meta, has also started testing a new green dot feature for iPhone users, through which it will be possible to quickly assess whether a contact is online.

According to technology website WhatsApp Beta Info, this feature is currently available in WhatsApp’s iOS beta version 26.26.10.72.

Under this feature, if a contact is online, a small green circle (green dot) will appear on the bottom right of their profile picture. As soon as the user is offline, this mark will automatically disappear.

According to the report, the green dot is currently visible only on the ‘Contact Info’ screen, which opens by tapping on a user’s profile picture.

However, experts say that it would be more useful for users if this mark is also displayed in the chats list or chats tab.

WhatsApp has tied this feature to its existing privacy settings, meaning that if a user has hidden their Last Seen or online status from others, the green dot will not be visible either.

Currently, this feature is only available to a few beta users on Android and iPhone, while the company has not given any date for its official availability for general users.
