WhatsApp account security tightened, now requires longer passwords and multiple passkey options

WhatsApp is making more security changes to keep users’ accounts safe. The company has announced new features related to two-step verification, calls from unknown numbers, and passkeys.
Until now, two-step verification used a six-digit PIN, but in the new system, users will be able to set a longer password instead. This password will be able to include letters, numbers, and special characters, making it harder to guess.
Calls from unknown numbers will also show some additional information. For example, WhatsApp can tell if the caller is using a number from another country or if both people are part of a common group. This feature will be available on Android for now.
WhatsApp has also emphasized the use of passkeys. It can use the phone’s fingerprint, face recognition, or screen lock to verify the account. That means there will be no need to remember the PIN or code every time.
The company says that more than a billion people are already using Passkeys. Now, the facility of having multiple Passkeys with one account is also being provided, which will create a lot of convenience for those who use different devices.
To add a Passkey, go to WhatsApp Settings, then Account and then open the Passkeys option.
