New platform introduced in the style of old Twitter, Twitter.now gets caught in legal dispute

A startup from the US state of Virginia has introduced a social media platform that is reminiscent of the old Twitter in both name and style. Bluebird Operation has named this platform Twitter.now, but it has no connection to Elon Musk’s company X.

According to media reports, the new platform has added many features of the old Twitter style. Users can reply to posts and also repost them.

Bluebird Operation is led by Stephen Coates, who has seen legal cases related to Twitter’s trademark in the past. The company maintains that when Twitter was renamed to X in 2023, the rights to the old Twitter brand were abandoned.

One of the highlights of Twitter.now is the artificial intelligence system called Vera included in it. According to the company, this technology will provide users with relevant sources and background information in addition to verifying claims made in social media posts. It will also give a confidence score for a claim.

The new platform’s launch comes at a time when its name and trademark have already been challenged in court. XCorp has filed a lawsuit against Bluebird Operation, objecting to its use of the Twitter name and related trademarks.

During the April 2026 hearing of the case, the judge also raised questions about some of X’s trademark claims. However, the court has not yet issued a final ruling on the matter.
