Sri Lanka has announced a 16-member squad for the ODI tri-series against Pakistan and England, featuring the return of opener Avishka Fernando. He will be seen in action in ODI cricket for the first time since February 2025.
Avishka Fernando has been included in the squad in place of Charith Asalanka. He demonstrated excellent form in recent domestic cricket, scoring two centuries in three matches, with a highest individual score of 160 runs. He is also the leading run-scorer in the Major Clubs Limited-Over Tournament, having amassed 447 runs.
Kusal Mendis to Captain Sri Lanka
Kusal Mendis has been entrusted with the team's leadership; however, the vice-captain has not yet been named. There have been few changes to the squad that suffered a 3-0 defeat in the recent ODI series against England.
Sahan Arachchige, who was brought into the squad for the ODI series against England to replace the injured Wanindu Hasaranga, has also been retained.
Tri-Series Schedule
The series will commence on October 18 with a match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi, while the final is scheduled to be played on October 31 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
