Prime Minister visits China, meets with major companies and vows to give new momentum to CPEC

In Beijing, Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif met high-level delegations of several major Chinese companies, discussing ways to enhance cooperation in economic, industrial and infrastructure sectors under the second phase of CPEC.

The first meeting was with a delegation led by CEO Zheng Jun Chen of FAMSUN. The company is providing services in grain storage and feed production in Pakistan’s agriculture sector. The Prime Minister invited them to set up manufacturing and technology facilities in Pakistan under the Special Economic Zones and Green Pakistan Initiative.

In a meeting with Chairman Hao Jianxin of Shandong Zhenxu Group Corporation, they discussed maritime sector, battery manufacturing, mineral processing and industrial cooperation. The Prime Minister appreciated the company’s investment in the C2 Steel project in Port Qasim, Gwadar and northern mineral sectors.

In a meeting with representatives of China Communications Construction Company and China Road and Bridge Corporation, the commitment to make rapid progress on the ML-1 railway project, re-alignment of Karakoram Highway and other connectivity projects was reiterated. The Prime Minister said that Pakistan considers these companies as long-term strategic partners.

In all meetings, Chinese companies expressed confidence in Pakistan's economic potential and showed keen interest in increasing investment in various sectors including agriculture, industry, logistics, and technology.
