Pakistan received $763 million in foreign aid in July, most of it in the form of loans

According to an official document in Islamabad, Pakistan received a total of $763 million in foreign economic assistance during July 2026.

This amount included both loans and grants, but the bulk came in the form of loans. According to the data, $744.67 million was in loans while $18.37 million was in grants. Thus, about 97 percent of the total assistance was received in the form of loans.

According to the details, China provided $146.62 million in assistance this month. $252.83 million was received from multilateral financial institutions and other sources.

A loan of $343.99 million was received in the form of budget support, which was to meet the financial needs of the government.

$432.73 million came in the form of non-plan assistance, while $333.3 million was provided under plan assistance. The volume of non-planned assistance remained relatively high.

The document shows that loans accounted for a significant share of the total foreign economic assistance received in July. The fact that about 97 percent of the amount of $763 million was in the form of loans reflects the dominance of loans in the structure of external financial assistance.
