New birthday reminder feature expected in WhatsApp

WhatsApp is testing a new feature designed to help users remember the birthdays of friends and family members. Initially, this feature is being tested in the iOS version of the app.
According to reports, work is underway to replace the current "Updates" tab with a "Contacts" tab in WhatsApp's new navigation design. This new section is expected to display birthday reminders for saved contacts.
Utilizing Information Already Stored on the Phone
WhatsApp will likely utilize birthday information already stored in the user's phone contacts. This eliminates the need for users to create a separate list of birthdays within the app.
When a saved contact has a birthday, a cake emoji and a "Birthday Today" message may appear next to their name. This reminder is expected to remain visible throughout the day, allowing users to wish their friends or loved ones a happy birthday in a timely manner.
Changes to WhatsApp's Navigation Design
The new design involves more than just the addition of birthday reminders; changes to WhatsApp's existing navigation layout are also expected. Reports suggest that "Status Updates" and "Channels" could be moved to the "Chats" section.
Currently, this birthday reminder feature is in the testing phase, and WhatsApp has not yet officially announced its final form or a release date for the general public. It is likely to be introduced for Android users in the future as well.
