New AI content detection feature introduced in WhatsApp channels

WhatsApp has started introducing a new feature for channels through which admins will be able to highlight media generated by artificial intelligence separately.

In the new feature, channel admins will get the option to ‘Add AI content label’ while sharing an update. After selecting it, the AI-related label will appear on the media bubble of the post.

Once the label is added, it cannot be removed again, while all followers who view the channel will be able to see this mark.

WhatsApp initially offered this facility to Android beta users, but now it has also started testing it for iPhone users.

This feature is available in WhatsApp Beta for iOS 26.34.10.70 and beta users can try it through test flight.

According to the company, in some countries, it may also be a legal requirement for channel admins to clearly identify AI-generated media when sharing it. The new label aims to help followers understand that the media shared on the channel was generated with the help of artificial intelligence.
