British pop singer Bonnie Tyler, who gained worldwide fame with her unique voice and timeless songs, has died at the age of 75. Her family confirmed her death on Thursday, saying that she had been undergoing treatment in a hospital in Portugal for the past several weeks, where she died due to illness.
A statement issued on the singer’s official social media accounts said that Bonnie Tyler’s family and her team are in deep shock. According to the statement, she died in a hospital in Portugal last night due to the illness for which she was being treated.

Bonnie Tyler, who hails from Wales, achieved global fame in the 1970s and 1980s with her unique voice and memorable songs “Total Eclipse of the Heart”, “Holding Out for a Hero” and others. Her unique voice became her identity and this style gave her a unique place in the world of music.
In June this year, her family said that she had been kept in an artificial coma for about a month after an emergency operation due to a hole in her intestine. Although she had come out of the coma, her condition remained critical and she remained under treatment in the intensive care ward, due to which all music shows until August were also canceled or postponed.

Bonnie Tyler’s real name was Gaynor Hopkins. She was born to a coal miner in Wales and raised in a middle-class family. Bonnie, one of six siblings, sang church hymns as a child and later performed in nightclubs at night while also working in a grocery store during the day.
In 1975, she signed with RCA Records and began her musical journey under the name “Bonnie Tyler”. Two years later, vocal surgery resulted in a deeper voice, which later became her trademark. Her collaboration with producer Jim Steinman in the 1980s brought her to international fame, while in 1983 her song "Total Eclipse of the Heart" reached number one on the music charts in both the UK and the US and later became the most popular song of all time, with over a billion streams.
