Babar Azam made it a condition of all-format leadership before accepting Test captaincy

Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam had reportedly made it a condition before taking over the Test captaincy that he would also be given the captaincy of all three formats in the future.
According to international media reports, the selectors assured him that if the team performed well in the next five Test matches against the West Indies and England, he could be made the full all-format captain.
The report claims that two selectors met Babar Azam before appointing the Test captain because he had limited options after the disappointing results under the leadership of Shan Masood.
According to sources, Babar has always wanted to lead Pakistan in all three formats and has not shown willingness to accept only the Test captaincy.
Babar Azam had resigned from the all-format captaincy after the ODI World Cup in 2023, after which Shan Masood was given the Test captaincy while Shaheen Shah Afridi was given the limited-overs captaincy.
Babar Azam says that he is confident about the responsibility he will get again, has learned a lot from past experiences and now his top priority is to bring maximum success to Pakistan.
However, no official confirmation has been made by the Pakistan Cricket Board in this regard.
