A letter written by FIFA President Gianni Infantino to congratulate the President of the Argentine Football Federation, Claudio Tapia, has been released. In the letter, the FIFA President praised Argentina's excellent performance in the 2026 World Cup.
The letter comes at a time when FIFA is conducting a formal investigation into the scuffle between Argentine and Spanish players on the field at the end of the World Cup final against Spain and other incidents.
In the letter, Gianni Infantino, referring to the final played on July 19, 2026, wrote that Argentina won the silver medal of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a thrilling match against Spain. I sincerely congratulate the Argentine Football Federation on its excellent performance.
He added that Argentina's excellent performance made the tournament memorable, while the hard work, professionalism and dedication of the players and head coach were the basis for this success.
It should be remembered that the atmosphere on the field became tense after the defeat to Spain in extra time in the World Cup final. During the trophy distribution ceremony, most of the Argentine players turned their backs on the stage, while after the match, there was a scuffle between players from both teams, which is being investigated.
It should be noted that according to FIFA tradition, at the end of each World Cup, the medal-winning teams are sent formal congratulatory letters by the organization.
