What did Sahibzada Farhan say regarding the return of Babar Azam and Rizwan?

Pakistan T20 team captain Sahibzada Farhan stated that Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan could return to the national team at any time, noting that he did not have much prior information regarding the 15-member squad selected for the series against Sri Lanka.

Speaking at a pre-series press conference in Rawalpindi, Sahibzada Farhan expressed that leading the national team for the first time is an honor for him. Optimistic about both his own and the team's performance, he said he would strive to set an example for his teammates through his play on the field.

He acknowledged that captaincy brings added pressure but emphasized that it is essential for a leader to perform well personally and convey a positive message to the team.

Recalling his father's prediction

Sahibzada Farhan shared that he had never imagined becoming the captain of Pakistan's national team, though his father had always predicted that he would lead the country in the future. He remarked that upon becoming captain, he realized the profound impact of his parents' prayers.

He also praised former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed’s leadership, stating that he was greatly impressed by his captaincy style.

According to the national captain, Pakistan needs to play better cricket with a fearless approach. He hopes the team's top-order batters will adopt an aggressive style and a positive mindset, in line with the demands of modern T20 cricket.

Possibility of Babar Azam and Rizwan's return

Discussing Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, Sahibzada Farhan described them as world-class players who could make a comeback to T20 cricket at any moment. However, he clarified that he also has full confidence in the current squad. When asked about the squad selection, he stated that forming the team is the selection committee's responsibility and that he was provided with a 15-player squad; however, as captain, he did not have much input regarding the team's selection.

Sahibzada Farhan noted that opportunities for T20 matches are limited following the series against Sri Lanka, so the team must make the most of the available fixtures. He added that he prefers to focus on his current responsibilities rather than worrying about whether or not he will be appointed captain in the future.

Regarding playing at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, the captain said he always enjoys playing there. He remarked that one inevitably faces challenges in a cricketing career, and he is prepared to tackle the challenges that lie ahead.
