Trial exports of Pakistani vehicles to Bangladesh to begin

The export of vehicles manufactured in Pakistan to Bangladesh on a trial basis is being started this month. In the initial phase, 100 vehicles will be sent to Bangladesh, while the volume of exports is planned to be increased in the future.

According to the report, a memorandum of understanding was signed between a Pakistani automobile manufacturing company and a Bangladeshi business group to export 5,000 vehicles in July 2026. Under the agreement, 100 vehicles will be sent on a trial basis this year in the first phase.

Two models of a global brand, manufactured in Pakistan in collaboration with SAIC Motor China, will reach Bangladesh this month. This is being described as an important step towards increasing cooperation and trade in the auto sector between the two countries.

According to Jian Qiangshao, CEO of the vehicle exporting company, these vehicles were previously exported from China to Bangladesh, however, the company has negotiated with SAIC Motor and paved the way for the export of CKD units of vehicles from Pakistan.

According to him, this model will benefit businesses in both countries. The Bangladeshi distributor will get the benefit of duty reduction in case of importing CKD units, while Pakistan will get the opportunity to sell its manufactured vehicles abroad.

The company’s CEO said that MG Pakistan will provide technical support to the Bangladeshi partner in terms of vehicle assembly, general assembly and quality control. For this purpose, Pakistan’s engineering team will also go to Bangladesh and provide necessary engineering services there.

He said that Pakistan has a cost-competitive environment and trained human resources for the automotive sector, due to which vehicle exports can be further expanded in the future.

According to him, this cooperation with Bangladesh will not be limited to the export of vehicles only but can also pave the way for the provision of technology and engineering services abroad.
