Schools across Punjab reopen after summer vacations, new working hours also in effect

All government and private educational institutions across Punjab have reopened after the summer vacations from today. Notification of new working hours of government schools has also been issued.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat welcomed the students returning to school and expressed his best wishes for them.
According to the new working hours, single shift schools will remain open from 8 am to 1:30 pm from Monday to Thursday, while the holiday on Friday will be at 12:45 pm.
The morning shift in double shift schools will be from 8 am to 12:30 pm from Monday to Thursday and until 12 pm on Friday. The evening shift will continue from 1 pm to 5:30 pm from Monday to Thursday, while on Friday it will continue from 2 pm to 5:30 pm.
According to the notification, all government and private schools across the province will remain open from Monday to Friday. These new working hours will be in effect from August 24 to October 15, 2026.
The 15-minute difference in the working hours of girls' schools can be adjusted at the district level as per the need.
The Education Department has directed the Chief Executive Officers and District Education Authorities to ensure strict implementation of the new working hours.
The Education Minister said in his message that the education system has resumed as usual from today. Students should start their activities with new energy and determination. The journey of learning will continue from where it stopped before the holidays.
He urged the teachers to play a full role in restoring the educational continuity of the children whose education has been disrupted after the holidays.
