Pakistan's white-ball squads for the T20 series against Sri Lanka and the subsequent tri-nation ODI series are expected to be announced this week. The selection committee has completed preliminary consultations regarding potential players, with the final list likely to be revealed following the Asian Games semi-finals.
According to sources, Sahibzada Farhan is likely to be handed the captaincy of the T20 team; should this happen, Salman Ali Agha might not be included in the T20 squad. Meanwhile, the inclusion of Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf in the T20 team remains uncertain for now, though Fakhar Zaman is expected to make a comeback.
Selectors are also evaluating the performance of young players participating in the Asian Games, and these performances will be taken into account during the final selection process. Due to player commitments in the domestic season and the Asian Games, no separate training camp will be held for the white-ball squads.
Regarding the ODI squad, the inclusion of Shaheen Shah Afridi and Babar Azam is considered certain. Selected players will report directly to the team hotel in Rawalpindi.
The Sri Lankan team is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan on October 4, and the three T20 matches between the two sides will be played in Rawalpindi. The first match is scheduled for October 9, the second for October 11, and the third for October 13.
Following the conclusion of the T20 series, a tri-nation ODI series featuring Pakistan, England, and Sri Lanka will take place. Additionally, the Pakistan squad for the two Test matches against Sri Lanka will be announced later.
