Pakistan's volleyball team has expressed serious concerns regarding administrative issues at the ongoing Asian Games in Japan. National team captain Murad Jehan revealed that, on certain occasions, players were not even provided with meals.
In a video posted on Instagram, Murad Jehan explained that prior to a crucial match against Uzbekistan, the bus driver transporting the team did not know the correct location of the gymnasium and took the players to the wrong place.
According to him, this error resulted in a waste of valuable time, and the situation escalated to the point where players had to change into their kits inside the moving bus. Due to the lost time, they were also unable to complete a proper warm-up before the match.
Complaints Regarding Lack of Meals
The national volleyball team captain stated that the administrative issues were not limited to a single incident. He noted that players often returned to the hotel after training sessions only to find the restaurant closed, leaving them without a meal.
Expressing frustration over these arrangements, Murad Jehan remarked that such treatment of players is unacceptable. Describing the situation as shameful, he added that they had not expected this level of organization from a country like Japan.
Second Consecutive Victory Despite Challenges
Despite the administrative difficulties, the Pakistani team did not let the issues affect their performance on the court. The national team defeated Uzbekistan in three straight sets, securing their second consecutive victory in the group stage.
Earlier, Pakistan had defeated Kazakhstan 3-1 in their opening match. Having won both initial contests, Pakistan currently holds the top spot in Group A. The national team will now face hosts Japan in the final match of the group stage. In the Asian Games volleyball competition, the top two teams from each group will advance to the quarter-finals.
