Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association announces 24-hour strike

Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association Chief Advisor Malik Khuda Bakhsh has said that we have had several meetings with the Petroleum Minister and Chairman OGRA, however, we do not agree with the determination of petroleum product prices on a daily basis.
While holding a press conference in Karachi, he demanded that the prices of petroleum products be determined for a month instead of 24 hours.
Malik Khuda Bakhsh said that the margin of dealers has not been increased for 3 years, it should be increased to 8 percent. The government should include dealers in the consultation to formulate the policy, the allocation of petrol by companies should be abolished and the fee through plastic money should be reduced to zero.
Malik Khuda Bakhsh announced that the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association will close petrol pumps from 6 am on Thursday, this closure will be for 24 hours till 6 am on Friday.
He said that the strike period can be extended if the demands are not accepted.
Malik Khuda Bakhsh said that it is our right to include stakeholders in the policy meeting. Chairman OGRA asked us for 7 days, but our executive committee did not agree to it, after which a 24-hour strike was decided from 6 am tomorrow.
He said that we have been running this association for 55 years, we have also suffered martial law and know how the country's system works. We are deciding on the strike after consultation and deliberation. If the Petrol Pumps Owners Association contacts us, the decision will be taken through the managing committee, we have our own association and our own agenda.
Vice President Tariq Hassan said that there are 625 petrol pumps in Karachi and about 3600 across Sindh, while there are 13 to 14 thousand petrol pumps across the country.
Malik Khuda Bakhsh said that Chairman OGRA said that the daily price determination is in trial, if it fails, we will inform the ministry. Tariq Hassan said that oil marketing companies must have 20 days of stock while dealers must have 3 days of stock. We have nothing to do with fake petrol pumps, if they are from companies, then they should take action against them themselves.
On the other hand, President of Pakistan Mini Mazda Goods Transport Association Haji Sher Ali Chaudhry, while announcing full support for the nationwide strike of Petrol Pump Owners Association, said that from 12 o’clock tonight, even the wheels of Mazda vehicles will not turn.
He said that he rejects the decision to increase the prices of petroleum products on a daily basis, as it is also causing serious harm to transporters.
Haji Sher Ali Chaudhry said that the transport sector is being badly affected by the increase in the prices of petroleum products on a daily basis. He demanded that the government immediately withdraw its decision and stop the daily increase in the prices of petroleum products.
