Pakistan defeated South Africa to secure 11th position in Hockey World Cup

Pakistan ended its campaign in the FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 with an 11th position. In the 11th and 12th position match against South Africa, the national team won in a penalty shootout after the match was tied until the stipulated time.
In this match held at the Wagner Hockey Stadium in the Netherlands, both the teams could not get ahead of each other until the stipulated time, after which the match went to a penalty shootout.
In the decisive stage, Pakistani players kept their nerves under control despite the pressure and defeated South Africa. With this success, Pakistan secured the 11th position in the World Cup.
The victory against South Africa also had an impact on the FIH world rankings. Before the event, Pakistan was at 12th position, however, after the victory, the national team has moved up one place and reached 11th position in the world rankings.
