Pak-Afghan Joint Chamber welcomes decision to allow movement of empty containers

The Pak-Afghan Joint Chamber welcomed the recent decision to facilitate the movement of empty containers from Afghanistan, calling it a positive confidence-building measure.

President of the Chamber, Junaid Ismail Makda, expressed hope that the movement of containers loaded with goods and regular commercial cargo would also start soon and bilateral trade and transit operations would resume.

He said that Pakistan-Afghanistan relations should be transformed into a success story, as the two countries have deep economic, cultural and historical ties and increased cooperation can play a significant role in regional peace and prosperity.

He appreciated the efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir to promote peace, regional stability and constructive diplomacy amid rising tensions in the region.

Junaid Makda said that the business community firmly believes that diplomacy and engagement are the most effective tools to protect economic interests and ensure the prosperity of future generations.
