LPG mafia has siphoned off Rs60 to 70 billion from the public

By selling the most expensive LPG in the country’s history, the LPG mafia has taken out Rs 60 to 70 billion from the pockets of the people who are suffering from inflation. The people were buying LPG priced at Rs 309 per kilogram at more than Rs 600.

According to Express News, taking advantage of the energy crisis due to Iran-US tensions, the LPG mafia sold LPG at its own arbitrary price and is still selling it in large quantities today.

According to the data of the Pakistan LPG Distributors Association, more than 6 million kilograms of LPG are sold in Pakistan every day. OGRA has set its price at Rs 309 per kilogram for the month of June, but LPG is not available anywhere at this price. Every plant owner, every company owner and every shopkeeper has his own rate.

Shopkeeper Kashif said that if we get Rs 550 per kilogram of LPG from the plant, how can we sell it at Rs 309? No agency, including OGRA, has taken any action against them.

Shopkeepers say that the plant owners are selling expensive LPG but are not giving receipts. If 6 million kilograms are multiplied by Rs 309, it comes to Rs 1.8 billion per day. If we calculate it for a month, it comes to more than Rs 54.8 billion, which is coming out of the pockets of the people.

OGRA spokespersons and senior officials were contacted, but they did not respond.
