An important change has been made regarding balance expiration for prepaid mobile users in Pakistan. PTA has set the minimum validity of mobile operators’ recharge and balance at 180 days.
According to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, the new decision will come into effect from October 1, 2026, after which prepaid users will get a minimum validity of 180 days for their recharged balance.
This decision also provides another important facility for users. If a user’s balance expires before the completion of 180 days and he recharges his mobile again, the previously expired balance will be automatically restored.
This means that the user will not lose the amount already available just because of the expiration of the balance or not recharging.
PTA says that this move will provide more protection to prepaid users regarding the validity of recharge and balance, while there will also be clear rules for mobile operators in this matter.
According to the authority, such measures will continue in the future to protect consumer rights, ensure transparency, and a fair business environment.
