Various irregularities have been revealed during the examination of the academic records of private colleges affiliated to Gomal University in Dera Ismail Khan.
During the review and physical inspection of private colleges by the Higher Education Authority, deficiencies were identified in the records related to admissions, registration, student attendance and examinations.
The Higher Education Authority has sent a request to the Higher Education Department for further investigation of the matter. The Higher Education Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has also raised the matter before the Higher Education Commission and sent a letter to the Chairman HEC.
The letter has requested a complete examination of the affiliation and territorial jurisdiction of private colleges affiliated to Gomal University.
The Higher Education Department has also demanded complete verification of degrees, admissions and examinations issued by affiliated private colleges. Along with this, it has been recommended to impose a ban on new admissions in unregistered private colleges and programs until the situation is completely clarified.
It has also been proposed to conduct a verification test to check the eligibility of graduates with questionable or incomplete educational records.
On the other hand, the provincial government has decided to inspect all private affiliated colleges in the province to maintain the quality of higher education and transparency in the system.
Provincial Chief Minister for Education Meena Afridi has made it clear that no compromise will be accepted on the quality of higher education in the province.
