Instagram decides to tighten action against AI fake profiles

Instagram has decided to take stricter measures against fake profiles created by artificial intelligence that appear to be real people, but are actually based on fictional characters.
After receiving continuous complaints from users, the platform has decided to change the label to more clearly identify such accounts. Now, the current ‘AI Creator’ label will be replaced by ‘AI Generated Profile’.
Instagram will not necessarily close these accounts, however, if a fake AI profile does not have the appropriate label, its access may be restricted. In this case, the posts of that account will reach fewer users than before.
According to the company, this change in policy was made after receiving feedback from users. Instagram began testing the ‘AI Creator’ label earlier this year to deal with the growing trend of fake characters and profiles created by artificial intelligence on the platform.
The new policy aims to make it clear to users whether the profile in front of them belongs to a real person or a fictitious identity generated by artificial intelligence.
