A concept for the 'Coplane'—a 222-foot-long supersonic aircraft—has been unveiled with the aim of shortening long-haul air travel times in the future. It is claimed that this proposed aircraft will be capable of flying at twice the speed of sound, potentially reducing certain travel durations by up to 70 percent.
The design envisions a capacity for 200 passengers and a non-stop flight range of 16,000 kilometers. This capability opens up the possibility of direct flights between London and Australia.
A Plan for Greater Capacity and Speed than Concorde
The Coplane is designed to surpass the famous Concorde supersonic jet in both speed and passenger capacity. Its proposed flight range also exceeds that of the Airbus A350-900 and the Boeing B787-9.
If this concept becomes a reality, it could create new opportunities for saving time on long-distance air travel. However, the Coplane currently exists only as a conceptual design. There has been no confirmation regarding its manufacturing, test flights, or the launch of commercial service; therefore, the stated speed and capabilities remain part of the proposed plan.
