Indian singer Neha Kakkar states that she is well aware that some of her songs will attract criticism and mockery on social media. However, she continues to create such tracks because people dance to them and enjoy her music at parties.
According to foreign media reports, while in conversation with actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, Neha Kakkar addressed the trolling directed at her songs. The singer noted that she anticipates criticism whenever she releases tracks like "Barah Larkay Saath Ghumay" (Twelve Boys Hanging Around), yet there is a specific purpose behind producing such songs.
According to Neha, while some people mock her music, others create videos using these very songs to garner views on social media. She acknowledged that her music is bound to face objections, but emphasized the reality that people genuinely enjoy dancing to these tracks.
Criticism over "Candy Shop"
Neha Kakkar also faced intense criticism for the song "Candy Shop," released in December 2025 in collaboration with her brother, Tony Kakkar. Both siblings contributed to the production of the track, with Neha providing the vocals.
Some listeners objected to the song's lyrics, labeling them inappropriate and indecent. Furthermore, some accused Neha of attempting to imitate the style and aesthetic of K-pop music.
Millions of Fans on Instagram
Despite the criticism and trolling, Neha Kakkar remains one of India's most popular singers on social media. The number of their followers on Instagram is reported to be over 76 million, which reflects their immense online popularity.
