The ICC and Cricket South Africa have set October 1 as the date to announce the schedule for the 2027 ODI World Cup. The schedule launch ceremony for the mega-event will take place in Cape Town, where the registration process for tournament tickets will also commence.
The 2027 ODI World Cup is expected to begin on October 2, with the final scheduled for November 21. A total of 14 teams will participate in the event, with the participation of 10 teams confirmed by September 30.
Hosts South Africa and Zimbabwe have already secured direct entry into the World Cup. In addition to them, eight other teams will qualify for the tournament based on ICC ODI rankings.
Based on current rankings, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, Australia, England, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh are in a position to qualify directly. Meanwhile, the West Indies will need to navigate the qualifying stage to secure a spot in the World Cup, while Namibia's direct participation is not currently guaranteed.
World Cup Ticket Registration
On October 1, the ICC will also launch the ballot process for 2027 World Cup tickets. Instead of purchasing tickets immediately, fans will first need to register to participate in the draw.
Through this process, fans will be able to register their interest in obtaining tickets for World Cup matches during the initial phase.
