Meta files patent for emotional state-detecting AI device

Technology company Meta has filed a patent for an AI device that can assess a user’s emotional state by analyzing their laughter, sighs, speech patterns, and other verbal and non-verbal cues.

According to foreign media, the patent, filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office, was published on July 2.

The patent describes an AI-powered device that can determine the user’s emotional state at any time by analyzing information related to the user and their location.

According to the patent, the user will be shown their personal emotional measurement so that they can better understand their mental and emotional state.

The document further said that the machine learning model can identify various emotional indicators by interpreting the user’s verbal and non-verbal cues.

The patent also gives an example, in which if a user is speaking in a frustrated or disheartened manner during a video call from home, the AI ​​device can analyze their emotional state by identifying this conversation style.
