Bollywood actress Ayesha Khan in police custody for participating in protest

Bollywood actress Ayesha Khan, who rose to fame with the film ‘Dharandhar’, was detained by the police while trying to participate in a protest in favor of educational reforms, while videos of this action are rapidly going viral on social media.

According to Indian media reports, Ayesha Khan had arrived in Mumbai to express solidarity with the students’ protest for educational reforms and the Cockroach Janata Party, where she was arrested by the police. In the video circulating on social media, it can be seen that the police personnel are forcibly putting the actress in a police van.

Reacting to her arrest, Ayesha Khan claimed that she had neither raised any slogan nor made any speech, yet she was detained.

Ayesha Khan said in videos shared on Instagram Stories that she was only there to express solidarity with the protestors. According to her, she was standing on the side of the road with her two female friends when her brother and other friends were transferred to a police van.

The actress said that during this time, about 15 police officers surrounded her and her two companions and ordered them to sit in the police van. She asked several times on what basis she was being detained, but no officer gave her a clear answer.

Ayesha Khan further said that after reaching the police station, the officers present there behaved appropriately with her, however, she strongly objected to the behavior of the officers deployed at the protest site. According to her, she and her friends were also pushed during the detention, which she expressed her displeasure over.
