Bangladesh overtakes Pakistan in Test rankings after leveling series against Australia

Bangladesh have made a huge leap in the ICC Test team rankings after levelling the Test series against Australia, leaving Pakistan behind.
After drawing the two-Test series 1-1, Bangladesh have jumped three places to their best ever sixth position. Sri Lanka have also fallen behind them, while Pakistan have moved to eighth place.
In the current rankings, Australia is first, South Africa is second and New Zealand is third. India is fourth, England is fifth, Bangladesh is sixth, Sri Lanka is seventh and Pakistan is eighth.
Bangladesh started the series in a brilliant manner. In the first Test, they defeated hosts Australia by 9 wickets to win their first Test on Australian soil.
However, Australia made a strong comeback in the second Test and defeated Bangladesh by an innings and 51 runs, after which the series was levelled 1-1.
On the other hand, Pakistan suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of hosts England in the first match of the three-Test series, after which the national team slipped further down in the rankings.
