The University of British Columbia (UBC) in Canada has begun accepting applications for admission to the Master of Applied Science (MASc) in Electrical and Computer Engineering program for the September 2027 academic session. The application period for this research-based program opened on October 15, 2026, and candidates may submit their applications until January 15, 2027.
The program is open to both Canadian and international applicants, including students from Pakistan. According to data released by the university, students who received financial support were awarded a median annual amount of 32,575 Canadian dollars during their first two years. After deducting tuition fees and other academic expenses, the remaining amount was 22,970 Canadian dollars.
However, the university has clarified that this financial support is neither uniform nor guaranteed for every student. The level of financial aid depends on available scholarships, research assistantships, teaching positions, and funding provided by the respective supervisor.
Regarding tuition fees, international students are required to pay approximately 10,081.65 Canadian dollars annually, while the fee for domestic students is 5,738.52 Canadian dollars. Additionally, eligible international students may receive an International Tuition Award of up to 3,200 Canadian dollars per year.
What are the application requirements?
Candidates seeking admission to the program are generally required to hold a four-year bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and possess a strong academic record. Proof of English language proficiency may also be required, and three letters of recommendation must be submitted along with the application. According to the university, taking the GRE exam is not mandatory.
Interested Pakistani students should review the admission requirements, funding opportunities, and details regarding their eligibility before submitting an application, as the availability of financial assistance may vary for each candidate.
